Michael Garofalo, Laura Ortman and Pat Noecker recently formed a new trio called GON. They create haunted yet joyous squalls of sound with violin, lamellophones, bass, synth and cell phone. Group improvisation takes precedence over composition; serendipity over songs. Melodies may emerge from layers of live loops and field recordings, transforming the spaces they fill and the people who inhabit them.
